GreenPower Motor Company, Inc (GreenPower) is a leading manufacturer and distributor of purpose-built, all-electric, zero emission and heavy-duty vehicles serving the cargo and delivery market, shuttle and transit space, and school bus sector.

Brief Description:

The accountant will report directly to the Corporate Controller and indirectly to the CFO, and will assist the Corporate Controller with all aspects of the financial and managerial accounting of the West Virginia subsidiary. In addition, the accountant would be responsible for a number of functions across the company including payroll administration, processing and accounting, state sales tax reporting and compliance, and accounts receivable management. The candidate must be comfortable working independently and be able to assist local and off-site management with the efficient application of company controls and procedures, and the accurate management of company financial records and reports.

  • Responsible for the the financial and accounting activities of GreenPower's West Virginia subsidiary, based out of GreenPower's production facility in South Charleston, WV, and assistance with other core functions across multiple GreenPower companies.
  • Day to day responsibility for the accounting and financial activities of the subsidiary, including accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, cost accounting and reporting.
  • Implement and maintain an internal control system on inventory.
  • Work closely with the operations and sales teams to monitor vehicle inventory movements such as arrival, in-production, in-transit and delivery.
  • Work closely with procurement and service team to keep track of company assets such as spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain records and implement financial controls over inventory and assets for financial reporting purposes.
  • Cost reporting and cost management functions.
  • Responsible for filing all U.S. state sales tax and coordination on government tax credit programs.
  • Work closely with HR and finance and responsible for processing payroll, including data entry into Paylocity and preparing various payroll reports.
  • Assisting with bank deposits, monthly bank reconciliations, and other office duties as required.
  • Preparing vehicle service invoices and collecting bill of lading and other supporting documents for vehicle sales and materials purchases.
  • Responsible for managing accounts receivable, including monitoring for payment and managing delinquent accounts.
  • Assist with period-end closing procedures and all aspects of the financial reporting process, including cost analysis and allocations.
  • Assist senior management with financial analysis and special projects as needed.
  • Requirements

    Requirements and Core Competencies:

  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Degree or diploma in finance or accounting, and enrollment in accounting designation preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft office software particularly excel.
  • Experience with QuickBooks online and Paylocity is an asset.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to assist in all aspect of the financial reporting process.
  • The primary place of work is at 30 Industrial Way, South Charleston. However, travel to the company's other locations may be required.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Considerable physical activity with prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 15 pounds.

    Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.
