Job purpose
The Automotive Manufacturing Technician will provide support for
Hypertruck ERX at partner facilities in Denton, Texas. This position will
become an expert on the product, including but not limited to, installation,
software, wire harnessing, and CAN communication. They will be hands on and
repair any defects with the ERX product. The position will perform these
duties by sustaining quality and efficiency through standardized work
instructions, 5S, and various other procedures. As a key part of the
operations team, this individual will work closely with the Advanced
Manufacturing department, installation department, hardware engineering, and
software engineering to help achieve timelines, delivery targets, promote
safety/5S culture.
Duties and responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on components, systems, and
equipment that may fail bring up. This includes but is not limited to,
replacing components, CAN communication, high pot testing, impedance
checks, pinout, power polarity testing, utilizing software tools to
exercise components, flashing/configuring components, and software
revision/version checks.
Excellent communication skills are critical. The position will provide
daily reports of the status on trucks and workload. This information will
include communication to external partners, Advanced Manufacturing,
Engineering, and Materials.
Experience with medium/heavy duty trucks and hybrid and/or EV preferred.
Observe and communicate material needs for repairs.
Provide on-the-job training when needed to the quality representative.
Use hand tools, torque wrenches, fixtures, and other equipment to perform
job duties.
Record observations and findings during diagnostics and provides feedback
to the supervisor. Assist with tracking and implementing corrective
measures.
Coordinate / perform repair, rework, or replacement of Hyliion parts as
necessary.
Ensure quality check/test for all installations prior to release.
Rework and make corrections to findings from partner Quality Product
Inspection (QPI).
Works and communicates well with others while exhibiting behaviors that
align with Hyliion's core values.
Ability to utilize standard work instructions and other procedures put in
place.
Follow processes for quality, safety, ergonomic, and interdepartmental
transactions.
Use required PPE to promote a safe environment.
Maintain 5S and other lean standards within the provided work area.
Ability to travel between sites.
Qualifications

Qualifications include:
Education
High School diploma, GED.
3 years of experience in automotive/heavy truck.
Specialized knowledge/Professional Certifications (preferred)
Heavy truck knowledge.
Diesel Mechanic certification.
Medium-Heavy truck certification.
Hybrid or Electrification.
Auto Maintenance and light repair certification.
Strong electrical background or education.
Class A CDL
Required Skills

Working conditions
This is a non-exempt level position; your schedule will be set at start. You
may be asked to work overtime or perform assistance outside your role from
time to time.
