  • Role Overview

    The Buyer, High Voltage Battery (Automotive) Role requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. A successful candidate needs to thrive in a pressurized environment using data and facts to help identify risks, manage resources, and solve problems quickly and effectively. A dedicated team ethic with the ability to interact at all levels and across business boundaries is required to be successful in this position.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap.

  • Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps.

  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA's, General Terms & Conditions, and Production Supply Agreements.

  • Negotiate key contracts to optimize value.

  • Perform detailed analysis of supplier quote submissions based on cost breakdown data and support it with should-costs.

  • Identify and implement cost reductions on prototype and series production products and services.

  • Actively manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics.

  • Ensure that the product is matched to the right supplier and ensure the supplier is effective in delivering the product in collaboration with Engineering.

  • Optimize the product's financial performance in collaboration with the Finance team.

  • Collaborate with Materials Planning and Production to develop, negotiate and monitor annual purchasing plans and shipment schedule, and ensure supplier adhesion thereof

  • Interact with suppliers on post-sales issues such as logistics, payments, warranty claims, etc. and spearhead discussions between internal and external teams.

  • Work closely with Program Management to track sourcing progress and execute product and vehicle build events.

  • Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews.

  • Ability to make strategic sourcing recommendations and take appropriate action.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Deep knowledge of sourcing, procurement principles, procurement systems and large company best practices.

  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Ensure that internal operations and supplier activities are conducted in an ethical, responsible manner, using ISO2600 / 20400 as a basis.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related subject. Equivalent experience may be considered.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Automotive OEM strategic sourcing, procurement, or purchasing.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience managing commercial business relationships with large suppliers in the Automotive industry.

  • 3+ years of recent experience with strategic sourcing of Electric Vehicle (EV) High Voltage (HV) Battery and High Voltage (HV) Battery commodities, such as Busbars, Fuses, Harnesses, Cooling Plates, BMS, Housings, etc.

  • 5+ years of Automotive OEM experience is preferred.

  • Experience in launching vehicles is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of sourcing, procurement principles, procurement systems, and large company best practices.

  • Ability to make strategic sourcing recommendations and take appropriate action.

  • Ability to gather information, analyze data, and provide recommendations.

  • Ability to negotiate with vendors independently and identify cost saving opportunities.

  • Experience in the application of PPAP processes in the supplier base.

  • Experience with problem solving, including 8D and practical problem- solving capability.

  • Proficient in the application of vehicle Project Management strategies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with Suppliers, Engineering Partners, and intraorganizational customers.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with exceptional communication skills.

  • Independent, initiative-taker.

  • Strong leadership and exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Comfortable in a demanding environment, with the ability to effectively interface with cross functional teams and management.

  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.

  • Expected Salary Range

    $50,960.00 to $125,580.00 per year.

    Additional Compensation

    Salary is one part of total compensation, which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits.

    An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker's equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.

    The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity, as well as business considerations. Fisker reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position within the salary range listed, taking into account the wide variety of factors listed above.
