What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a motivated and accomplished licensed Professional Engineer
in the field of Electrical Engineering, for our Energy Engineering team who
will support numerous customer and facility projects that utilize Tesla energy
products. They will also be responsible for supporting cost-saving strategies
based around value engineering principles while maintaining best in class
standard approaches. In addition, they will apply advanced and diversified
knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the planning, organizing,
executing and coordinating new construction energy projects Open to
Engineer sitting in Palo Alto, CA, Fremont, CA, & Austin, TX
What You'll Do
Tesla is looking for a licensed Electrical Engineer experienced in the
design, operation, and operation of commercial solar, energy storage, and
charging technologies.
Have experience reviewing and approving plan sets for construction and
working with RFI's during the construction process.
Understand fault currents, appropriate transformer sizing, over-current
device coordination approaches, complete voltage drop calculations and
know how to appropriate size conductors for conditions of use.
Experience with SKM, able edit and add information in the model.
Ability to review and program SEL and Cooper Form 6 protection relays.
Journeymen level knowledge of the current National Electrical Code.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced
environment.
Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines.
Have excellent written and verbal communication.
Desire to do the impossible with a positive and professional “never say
die” attitude.
Strong desire to be a part of a world class team focused on achieving

What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in
experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
2-3 years of direct engineering / design / construction experience
building solar, storage, and chagrining infrastructure systems.
Promote and protect Tesla's reputation as a cutting-edge company producing
the world's most exciting energy products and shifting the paradigm of how
energy is made, storage, and delivered.
Use Electrical Design experience to size breakers and feeders in
accordance with NEC.
Use National Electric Code to review and approve drawings in compliance
with national codes.
Interface and collaborate with engineers and construction professionals
from multiple disciplines.
Skilled in Medium Voltage and Low Voltage power distribution equipment
including specification of electrical equipment, troubleshooting,
programming /adjusting of medium voltage relays, distribution level
transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
Working knowledge of OSHA and UBC codes and HAZMAT safety protocols
Ability to communicate clearly and interface with executive level
professionals.
