What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced, dedicated, and well-organized
Superintendent to join our Construction team working in Fremont, CA region
projects. The Superintendent will lead one or more trade teams in Tesla's
Self-Perform team and will provide professional and technical leadership for
the craft, foreman, general foreman and supervisors in the team, embodying
Tesla's high expectation on safety, quality, and efficiency of work. The
superintendent is expected to work with Tesla's internal Construction Managers
and Project Superintendents to execute scopes of work they have been assigned,
while coordinating field conflicts with other sub-contractors working in the
same space. They will supervise all on-site construction, resolve day to day
construction issues, perform inspections to ensure compliance with plans and
specifications while maintaining safety and quality of execution. The
Superintendent will take final responsibility in job estimates, resource
loading and cost management while relying on his supervisors and general
foreman for inputs.
What You'll Do
Lead craft, foreman, general foreman and supervisors in the Self-Perform
team. Depending on seniority and experience of the candidate, this may
also include over-seeing other Self-Perform superintendents.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and
enforcing the applicable state and OSHA regulations.
Work with the back office to manage resources – people and procurement –
to ensure cost management and schedule is met.
Supervise on-site construction activities of the craft in the team, while
providing coordination with other contractors and projects in the area.
Prioritizing projects being executed, job walks and job estimates. Develop
and manage execution plans/schedules in alignment with Tesla's priorities.
Ensure frequent communication with key project individuals, job site
personnel and Project Manager, while providing people leadership and
coaching to those within the team.
Develop and communicate logistics and other operational plans necessary
Schedule and lead quality control and site safety inspections
Understand project plans and specifications, providing input back to
Design to improve / adjust designs for best solution for Tesla – adapting
to the project needs and priorities.
Track and receive material deliveries and resolve delivery discrepancies.
Direct work in field, track changes, etc. both individually and leading or
participating in a larger team and interact with third party inspection
personnel and City/State/County inspectors.
What You'll Bring
7+ years of construction experience
7+ years of electrical experience
Previous experience as a Lead Superintendent on previous industrial
facility construction, Brownfield construction, building renovation or
tenant improvement project(s)
Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization
with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
Experience with design-build projects
OSHA Certified preferred
Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and environmental
regulations
Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide
constructability feedback prior to and during construction
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite products, office email
system, scheduling tool knowledge and Bluebeam
Ability to travel up to 30%
