What to Expect

As a Tesla Tool Install Technician, you will play a crucial role in new construction and building improvements at the Sparks Factory and surrounding facilities. You will be responsible for safety and general labor duties. Completion and documenting safety workplace examinations. This is a physically demanding job working within production areas inside and outside, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. Occasional work in wet environments inside or outside of the building. In addition, you will at times wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Work weeks can extend to six day work weeks with minimal notice due to demand (shutdowns/line failures/emergencies, this including working holidays so a flexible schedule change is a plus. Tool Install Technicians must be able to lift up to 50lbs and utilize hand tools and power tools.

What You'll Do

· Works with Tool Install Management team on new construction projects and Facility improvement.

· Scopes of work will include and not be limited to demolition, drilling, painting, flooring, framing, drywall, concrete, fabrication, carpentry, doors & openings, and finishes.

· Daily activities include loading, unloading or identifying building materials, machinery, or tools, and distributing them to the appropriate locations.

· Work activities includes operating hand tools, power tools, mobile carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and skid steers. Training and certifications for mobile equipment provided.

· Familiarity with materials such as paint, epoxy, concrete, unistrut, aluminum extrusion, piping, metals including structural steel and sheet metal.

· Consulting manuals and installation instructions for various permanent equipment.

· Ability to survey and layout equipment/structures etc. (Calculate dimensions of work-pieces, products, or equipment/measure dimensions of completed products or work-pieces to verify conformance to specifications)

· Perform job scopes outside of core competency as required, ability to learn new skills as the company needs evolve. (Perform installation work, repairs, and similar duties that require no oversight or direction.)

· Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback to relevant parties.

· Possible welding, rigging and pipefitting

· Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts. (Measure materials to mark reference points, cutting lines, or other indicators. Draw guide lines or markings on materials or work-pieces using patterns or other references.)

· Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories or materials onto machines. (Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.) Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products, using a variety of metalworking machines.

· Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs. (Diagnose equipment malfunctions.)

· Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations. (Dispose of trash or waste materials.)

· Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information. (Exchange information with colleagues)

· Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability. (Advise others on ways to improve processes or products.)

· Plan production or operational procedures or sequences.

· Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.

· Install repaired parts into equipment or install new equipment. (Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment. Install mechanical components in production equipment.)

· Displays positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company.

· Provides excellent customer service to all teams at the Sparks Factory.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum (3) year of experience working in a construction or facilities capacity working on tenant improvement, remodel construction, new construction, and facility services or maintenance.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, able to understand directions, read work orders with location and project descriptions, request more information from Supervisors and customers.

  • A strong attention to detail and quality of finished architectural work will be required.

  • Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies as required.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety with the ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning.
  • Ability to work in high elevation up to 80 ft. high.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management; must have a high degree of initiative, and the ability to work alone and effectively with other people.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, details, and specifications a plus.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to work off-shifts, as needed.
