What to Expect
The Tesla Technical Training Instructor – Environment, Health, and Safety
(EHS) role will require someone who is creative, flexible, highly organized,
and hard-working. Individuals should have a passion for and understanding of
personal development through the training process. The candidate must have
outstanding communication, presentation, and organizational skills while
demonstrating a positive, motivational, and professional appearance. The Tesla
Technical Training Instructor, EHS will take responsibility for designing,
delivering, and tracking EHS curriculum, mentoring workers in a wide range of
EHS technical topics. The ideal candidate would bring applicable industry
experience to the table and will be armed with an innovative problem-solving
ability.
What You'll Do
Train Tesla manufacturing, equipment maintenance, engineering, and
facilities personnel in topics such as: Fall Protection, Confined Space,
Control of Hazardous Energy / Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), Electrical Safety,
Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Emergency Action
Planning, Powered Industrial Vehicles, etc.
Lead new hire orientation EHS training content updates and delivery.
Partner with EHS and other training stakeholders (e.g., manufacturing
training, contractor safety) to ensure all Tesla training meets OSHA /
TCEQ / EPA requirements.
Partner with EHS team to monitor facility / team trends with incident
occurrence, employee feedback, and continuous improvement projects to
anticipate and proactively fill training / knowledge gaps appropriately.
Create course materials, such as PowerPoints, student handouts, and tests
for instructor-led programs with student assessments.
Schedule and coordinate training classes to meet customer demand.
Travel to all site locations as and when required to fulfill site training
requirements.
Lead training modules (classroom and online) for Tesla technicians on a
variety of technical topics.
Engage production management, engineering, maintenance, quality, EHS and
subject matter experts to gather required technical information on complex
manufacturing processes and technologies.
Monitor human error trends as a result of training to assess training
impacts and provide solutions to demonstrate a downward trend.
Partner with factory shop EHS Specialists and cross functional teams to
develop and maintain EHS training matrices.
Train on other EHS topics as assigned (e.g., radiation safety, hazardous
waste) with guidance from the EHS department.
What You'll Bring
Must be available to work Days/Nights/Swing
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related discipline preferred
3+ years of training experience within a manufacturing environment.
3+ years of hands-on experience with two or more of the following topics:
Fall protection, confined space entry, high voltage electrical work, LOTO,
Powered Industrial Vehicle
Familiarity or expertise with using electronic Learning Management Systems
a plus.
Excellent oral and written training / communication skills.
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems
Proficiency with the development of training programs and materials,
including student assessments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Demonstrated experience as a team-oriented self-starter, eager to meet and
exceed objectives, with the ability to handle a multi-project environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of production processes and systems (i.e.
workflow, safety, using software applications, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
