What to Expect
The Tesla Robotics Team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla
Bot) to perform tasks that are boring, repetitive, and dangerous for humans.
The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing
engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team.
As a Electro-Mechanical Engineer for the Tesla-bot program you will be
responsible for integration of mechanical and electrical components,
consolidating and packaging connectors, harnesses and sensors. Your job will
be to drive the pace and cross functionality of the product by collaborating
with other mechanical and electrical engineering teams.
What You'll Do
Operate in cross-functional projects for mechanical design and packaging
of components to meet product and system level requirements while
optimizing for product attributes.
Develop novel power and communication distribution, endpoint
consolidation, manufacturability improvement, and robust solution building
for iterative changes.
Have design responsibility for diverse products, including wire harnesses,
jumpers, busbars, plastic/metal component design, integration in
enclosures, and electronic component packaging.
Have engineering responsibility across all stages of product development,
collaborating with suppliers, Tesla SIE's/GSM's, overseeing prototyping,
and managing RC, Beta, and Pilot builds.
What You'll Bring
Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication methods for low and high
volume.
Analytical background for successful design (tolerance stack-ups, solid
mechanics, thermal, cost and mass optimization).
Passion for electro-mechanical product design and finding simpler
solutions to meet requirements.
Ability to present data/trade-offs to facilitate decision making.
Experience taking projects from concept to production.
CAD experience, 2D and 3D (Catia preferred).
