About the Role – You Will:
Satisfactorily perform all essential functions for a Metallurgical Quality
Specialist.
Create and execute cut and polish programs in lab equipment.
Compile metallurgical reports in support of APQP/PPAP requirements.
Cross-train quality technicians on metallurgical equipment as needed.
Maintain lab equipment in good working order through a combination of
standard maintenance activities and coordination with equipment vendors.
Coordinate activities within the Quality System to ensure product
specifications are met.
Advise manufacturing and engineering on how to correct out of control
processes.
Analyze statistical data and participates in continuous improvement
activities.
Audit the manufacturing process to ensure that parameters are within data
set sheets.
Assist Quality Engineers/Supervisor in the development of work
instructions for measuring, testing and inspection methods.
Understand and comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 14000 requirements.
Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and
procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and
reading technical publications.
Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results
as needed.
Evaluate further Powered Quality laboratory opportunities with Product and
Process Engineering resources to increase overall laboratory analysis
capabilities in support of battery and non-battery production.
Other laboratory related tasks as identified in support of battery and
non-battery production.
Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Quality team that supports operations in
the battery facility near Greenville, SC.
You will report to the Quality Engineer and collaborate with other
cross-functional team members located on-site as well as at our
headquarters in Burlingame, CA

Your Experience Includes
Associate degree (technical degree preferred) or related experience in
automotive or other large-scale manufacturing a plus
Knowledge of Metallographic Sample Preparation (sectioning, mounting,
grinding, fine grinding, polishing, etching and microscopic examination)
Working knowledge of laser welding (Aluminum and Steel) a plus
Working knowledge of MSA (Measurement System Analysis)
Fundamental knowledge of microstructure analysis of welding process.
Proficient use of standard shop floor gauging (Micrometers, Calipers,
etc.)
Ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with ISO based Quality Management System (ISO/IEC 17025
and/or IATF 16949 experience a plus)
Thorough understanding of GD&T.
Knowledge of Keyence microscope a plus
Understand how to optimize quality assurance using basic statistics,
statistical process control (SPC), and process capability analysis (Cp,
Cpk, Pp, Ppk).
Basic computer skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Software – Word,
Excel, PowerPoint,
Analytic, documentation and reporting skills.
