Your Role:
As a Manager, Design Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for
delivering excellence in appearance quality of the vehicle to the customer.
You will be driving the appearance of interior and exterior part development,
tool releases and approvals by advising designers, engineers and global
suppliers. You will also be raising awareness to critical risks in part
appearance quality and collaborating with cross functional teams to develop
solutions. You will actively manage continuous improvement iterations with the
supplier in order to resolve design quality issues with the goal of reaching
appearance approval.
Responsibilities:
Manage AAR part submissions, timelines to ensure part development meet
program timing.
Review and approval tooling based on technical tooling reports and draft
analysis.
Facilitate grain, surface, finish and color approvals on appearance parts.
Ensure appearance and color harmony between intersecting components.
Generate tracking and reporting on critical risks in design quality and
paths forward to resolution.
Conduct vehicle harmony reviews at given program milestones.
Develop benchmarking documents to support design studio to communicate
intent with engineers.
Maintain organization of part development status throughout part approval
process.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 8 years of experience or equivalent
design experience.
Basic understanding Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Self-starter with high attention to detail.
Knowledge in material manufacturing processes including plastic, leather,
vinyl, textiles, chrome, paint, etc.
Knowledge in tooling and texturing processes.
Proven technical knowledge in product development and ability to work in
cross functional teams (design, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, advanced skills in Excel.
Must pass a Munsell Hue Test with Superior Discrimination.
Annual Salary Range:
($130K - $170K DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
