Job purpose
The Mechanical Engineer supports the development and integration of future
powertrains into target vehicle applications. This key role executes the
design of assigned products using sounds engineering principles and adhering
to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/programuirements.
This work may include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all
products.
Duties and responsibilities
This position will be primarily responsibilities include:
Perform simulation and analysis of heat exchangers and mechanical
structures for both modal and durability.
Development of component and sub-system specifications to meet key product
attribute requirements.
Design release of completed components including the detailing and
creation of 2D prints with GD&T.
Development of APQP materials including FMEAs and DVP&Rs to support risk
assessment and test plan development.
Identification and collaboration with strategic suppliers to complete
critical component designs and manufacture.
Cost model development and cost reduction initiatives support.
Responsible for safety and material compliance requirements.

Qualifications include:
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
2+ years of experience in packaging environment.
Specialized knowledge/Professional Certifications (preferred)
Master's degree in Engineering
Skills
Automotive experience with working knowledge of truck (or related mobility application) powertrain, drivetrain, and general under hood packaging.
Vehicle electrification experience including motor, inverter, battery systems and general electrical hardware knowledge.
Expert in 3D CAD tools with a history of creating 2D prints with GD&T.
Experience in structural and thermal analysis toolsets.
Highly collaborative personality with a willingness to learn and adapt involving interaction with adjacent functions to solve complex issues.
Experience in high voltage and associated safety protocols.
APQP experience including the creation of Boundary Diagrams, FMEAs and DVP&R.
Ability to design and troubleshoot complex mechanical and thermal systems.
Ability to effectively and positively communicate verbally and in writing with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments.
Good problem solving and good communication skills, excellent numeracy and spatial awareness.
Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions. Strong follow-through and self-starting nature.
Willingness to travel: Position may involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers (10%).
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Working conditions
This is an Exempt level position, with a flexible work schedule and ability to
maintain work/life balance as required by the role. Additionally, this
position typically works in an office environment; and given the nature of our
business is exposed to manufacturing environments.
