What to Expect

This position will work as a member of Tesla's Passive Safety Test team, supporting sub-system structural safety tests focusing on vehicle development, regulatory certification, and consumer protection crash test ratings. This role is responsible for conducting specified tests according to written and oral test direction along with existing test procedures. This position is responsible for all aspects of test preparation, test execution, and post-test inspection. The successful candidate for this position should have a background in automotive safety testing or using hydraulic test fixtures.

What You'll Do

Configure and setup sub-assemblies, components, body-in-whites, and jigs/fixtures for structural strength passive safety testing. Set up and operate measurement, data acquisition, and imaging equipment for the test. Set up and operate test equipment to conduct system level tests according to written or verbal instruction and test procedures. Accurately record set up details, measurements, test results, and any incidents that occur on test. Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot issues. Fabricate, modify, and build test setups. Identify, label, and store pre and post-test samples. Maintain test equipment, support repair and improvement projects. Operate and maintain a safe working environment for all employees at all times.

What You'll Bring

Automotive safety and/or hydraulic actuator test experience is preferred.Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation is preferred.Experience with automotive safety testing in accordance with FMVSS and/or ECE procedures is preferred. Metal fabrication experience (mill, lathe, welding, saws, etc.) preferred. Ability to read and interpret test regulations and specifications.Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane.A go-getter attitude and the desire to do things right the first time. Ability to maintain an organized and clean laboratory work environment. Adhere to and enforce 5S standards.Demonstrate a strong attention to detail.Ability to follow oral and written instructions (English).Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.Must have valid driver's license.Ability to operate a wide variety of tools and shop equipment, for servicing vehicles and lab equipment.Ability to use computers effectively for inventories, communication, reporting (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals.
