What to Expect

Tesla's Cell Materials Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated individual to be a project engineer for new battery recycling projects. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla.

You, as a Project Engineer, will interface with organizations across Tesla, Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Operations, and the Executive team. You will drive the development and deployment of new battery recycling processes, the planning and execution of new battery recycling expansion, and build productive relationships with external suppliers and relevant agencies.

You will support projects from concept through install, integration, ramp, and handover to production.

What You'll Do

  • Work with Cell Engineering, Factory Design, Quality, Operations, and other supporting functions in order to scope and drive designs for deployment of battery recycling equipment.
  • Determine project specifications and acquire the necessary materials for completion.
  • Develop scope and define parameters for project design and implementation.
  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team.
  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks.
  • Drive review and selection of external equipment vendors and integrators for delivery of selected manufacturing project scope.
  • Coordinate internal and external engineering findings to de-risk plant design and optimize plant operations and availability
  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or similar technical engineering discipline), and/or evidence of exceptional experience.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems.
  • 2+ years in manufacturing/production environment, in a mix of engineering and project roles. Experience working on the development of chemical processing, industrial shredding, industrial furnace, or hydrometallurgical systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work and communicate cross-functionally, including interfacing with suppliers and third party firms.
  • Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours.
  • Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies.
  • Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measures to resolve.
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • From this employer
