Hyliion is seeking a highly motivated and technically capable Quality
Engineer to join our team in Cedar Park, TX. The Quality Engineer will be
responsible for leading advanced product quality planning activities within
the organization, and actively participating in process development.
This role is multi-dimensional interfacing with internal customers
(Operations, engineering, procurement) while assisting with PFMEAs, Control
plans, MSA studies, Capabilities studies and PPAP reviews and submissions.
The Quality Engineer will also participate in activities concerned with
development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes
and products.
This position is an excellent developmental position for candidates aspiring
to transition into a role of greater responsibility within Hyliion. Reports to
the Director of Quality.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

Participate actively as a member on New Product Development teams to
ensure that product and process quality goals are defined and achieved.
Lead the creation of Control Plans, the development of dimensional test
strategies, and the translation of these into inspection plans
Support the team in the creation and review of Design and Process FMEAs as
well as DFx activities
Leads the statistical analysis activities from the Quality perspective in
liaison with the manufacturing engineering team (SPC)
Perform Quality System, Process and Product audits
Responsible as liaison between cross functional teams, to review and
approve PPAP documentation for submission to the customers.
Communicate program quality risks to stakeholders and core team members
and work within the teams to implement effective mitigation.
Advance the maturity of APQP process within the organization through
implementation of innovative solutions that drive continual improvement.
Work with suppliers to devise sampling procedures and develop forms and
instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and
reliability data.
Prepare Quality KPI's, countermeasures and annual action plans for quality
PPM, on-time delivery, late 8D responses, etc.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of quality system requirements/compliance/audit programs
to IATF 16949 standard with use of AIAG PPAP, FMEA, APQP (Control
Plans), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System
Analysis (MSA).
Experience in supporting continuous quality improvement activities in a
high-volume manufacturing environment.
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T with working
knowledge of measurement methods, layout inspection (CMM), gage
calibration and industry standards for inspection and testing preferred.
Self-starter with strong follow-through skills and demonstrated “can do”
approach.
Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication with
proven ability to convey technical information that is appropriate to the
correct audience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint);
Minitab statistical analysis, and Project Management preferred.
Good understanding and working experience with mathematical concepts such
as probability and statistical inference, Statistical Process Control,
Design of Experiments and Six Sigma problem solving methods.
Ability to think logical and critically to measure the pros and cons and
take the most appropriate decisions quickly from available resources.
Ability to perform quality audits to assure products and processes meet
IATF and regulatory standards.
Ability to develop good rapport with purchasing department, manufacturing,
and engineering departments to achieve manufacturing goals and
sustainability.
Must be an active listener with good time management skills to work with
suppliers and project management teams to define and follow thru with
deliverables.
Must possess great organizational and communication skills and the ability
to work cooperatively with management.
Ability to work with minimum supervision to meet customer's requirements.
Ability to conduct training using training materials, and the ability to
speak effectively before groups of suppliers, customers, or employees of
organization.
Ability to travel on as needed basis but not more than 15%
Required Qualifications:
5+ years in Engineering, Quality Engineering Management in Automotive
Manufacturing
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Internal Auditor certification
VDA 6.5 and VDA 6.3 certification preferred
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Certified Quality Auditor
(CQA) preferred
