What to Expect
Tesla Motors is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Quality Specialist to work in the Distribution & Fulfillment group. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing, warehousing or distribution environment, preferably involving work with medium to high volume products. The Quality Specialist will work with highly visible stakeholders, both strategic and tactical, as well as all aspects of the distribution center operation, to support a robust quality organization, while understanding operational bottlenecks and system capabilities/needs. This individual will need to be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality & customer- focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement.
What You'll Do
Document & Communicate any identified defects Comprehend and contribute to quality trends based on established metrics, process controls, audits conducted within the distribution center Manage nonconforming material through the MRB process to ensure that nonconforming material is identified, appropriately dispositioned, tracked, and reported Proficient at root cause analysis, identify and implement short/long term countermeasures Provide data input and output reports to assist in quality improvement activities Operate in the ‘inspect, diagnose and repair' mindset Collaborate with engineering teams to support investigation, containment and execution for strategic quality issues Champion all things quality and uphold/expect compliance to rigorous standards and process controls Take part in ongoing optimization of the operation with respect to both cost, process, material and information flows Support FMEA activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated Analyze and interpret data independently Anticipate potential problems and take preventative action
What You'll Bring
Demonstrated leadership skills Experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment Experienced in QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed (part sorting, material moving, etc) Ability to operate material handling equipment (i.e. forklift, etc.) Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and management assisting with solutions Ability to manage and give direction in critical situations while keeping composure Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing line leadership and guidance Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills Ability to use technology tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data Ability to operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard software Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc highly desired
