What to Expect
Tesla's Battery Electronics (BE) team is hiring an Electrical Design Engineer (Engineer, Sr) to design state-of-the-art High-Voltage-Controller (HVC) PCBs for Tesla's lineup of automotive and energy products. These PCBs perform safety management, battery management & charge control functions that are critical to the operation of the overall high voltage system. As a member of the BE team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design HVCs from concept to mass production. You will contribute new technology ideas, design proof of concepts, and be responsible for end-to-end ownership of best-in-class HVC designs across our vehicle and energy product lineup.
What You'll Do
End-to-End Ownership of high voltage PCB designs starting from writing specifications, crafting architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, board bring up & validation, and overseeing backend processes (reliability and functional testing) Collaboration with cross functional teams (mechanical, firmware, test, reliability etc.) as necessary to see product through high volume adoption
What You'll Bring
Required Skillsets BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience Background in Analog Electronics Design: -Familiarity with Power Supply Design (LDO, DC-DC Switching Regulators) -Familiarity with basic analog building blocks – Op-amps, MOSFETs, BJTs etc. -Experience with Design for EMC, Thermals Background in Digital Electronics Design -Communication Interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN etc.) -Experience with Microcontroller HW Design PCB Layout Knowledge/Experience -Experience with Schematic/PCB-Layout Software – Altium or Cadence Lab Debug Skills -Familiarity with using multimeters, oscilloscopes, current probes etc. to troubleshoot circuits & validate designs. Excellent technical communication and collaboration Desired Skills Experience working with High Voltage PCB design & layout Experience with Electronics Design for Automotive Environments Experience designing Battery Management Systems Knowledge of best practices/techniques for High Voltage & High Speed PCB design
