Job purpose

Hyliion is looking for a Senior Engineer – Embedded Software Cybersecurity to join our team in Cedar Park, TX. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry, reduce the use of fuel, and have some fun. You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation, and testing of electrical powertrain systems.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform research into the automotive applicability of the latest software security technologies.
  • Participating in Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) in collaboration with other functional engineers.
  • Work on Security Requirement development, Security Requirement review, and work closely with functional engineers to ensure the execution of these requirements.
  • Participate in vulnerability analysis (static code analysis, known vulnerability analysis) and support tracking cyber security implementation issues based on the vulnerability analysis.
  • Support verification engineer in security verification test and its vulnerability management.
  • Help develop penetration testing activities and its vulnerability management.
  • Provides guidance and support to the program team in the development of their work products in compliance with ISO 21434.
  • Create implementation strategies for the development of prototypes and demos.
  • Efforts will include creating requirements, specifications and test documents with Safety, Testing, and Quality as critical elements from the start.

    Qualifications include:

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with cyber security in embedded systems; experience in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of basic cryptography is required.
  • Skills

  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems development including networking, cryptography, and resource management and experience designing customizations to those platforms.
  • Outstanding organization, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills plus experience building consensus among technical team members.
  • Ability to break down difficult problems into smaller sub-tasks.
  • Strong follow-through and self-starting nature.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Experience designing solutions that meet or exceed automotive-relevant cybersecurity standards/regulations.
  • Experience with formal requirements and configuration management tools (Jama, Jira, etc.) and systems engineering principles.
  • Familiar with AUTOSAR BSW software development.
  • Familiarity with a security management framework such as ISO 21434, ISO 27001, NIST CSF.
  • Working knowledge of developing in C and C++.

  • Working conditions

    This is an EXEMPT level position, with a flexible work schedule and the ability to maintain work/life balance as required by the role. Additionally, this position typically works in an office environment; and given the nature of our business is exposed to Operations/Warehouses.
