The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for Executing Advanced
Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process
(PPAP). Review and approve PPAP elements to assure best in class battery
systems. You will collaborate with other stakeholders to identify, root cause,
and resolve issues.
Responsibilities
APQP and PPAP processes to assure product and supplier readiness for high
voltage battery systems, modules, and battery enclosure components to meet
the design requirements including performance, reliability, safety, and
regulatory tests.
Work with the battery design and release engineers to ensure that design
reviews are performed with suppliers.
Drive usage of other quality core tools like FMEA, SPC and MSA to assure
effective quality management system is in place
Support technical reviews to achieve supplier manufacturing feasibility,
on time sourcing, tooling construction start, off-tool off-process
readiness and other key supply deliverables
Closely coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing and other cross functional
teams to assure the execution of robust advance supplier quality
strategies to support the program timeline and aggressive launch plan
(preventive risk assessment, mitigation actions planning, continuous
improvement tracking, KAI and KPI reporting)
Develop quality incident tracking processes for pre-production and
production quality issues, including problem resolution process from the
suppliers back to LMC, immediate containment, sorting, and permanent
resolution of issues.
Establish a proactive launch containment process with LMC requirements for
traceability and lot-level quality secondary inspection audits, to protect
LMC during volume acceleration
Support Launch and sample part builds to ensure compliance to dimensional
and functional requirements
Lead all root cause analysis activities for all pilot and production
suppler quality issues, implement 8D
Handle confidential information with the highest degree of professionalism
Establish and maintain a close working relationship with all areas of the
company
Requirements
Preferred Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical/Electrical
Engineering or Equivalent
Required 3-5 years of launching new programs (experience in engineering,
manufacturing operations and new product launch)
Strong knowledge of high voltage battery systems and components
Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and
interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and
customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Strong proficiency and experience in Advanced Quality Planning and Quality
Management Systems core tools APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA
Display a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC),
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and how to apply these
skills to improve quality, capacity, and reduce cost
Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage
design and function
Experience with IATF-ISO/TS 16949 requirements. Certification is highly
desirable
Proficient in use of MS office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Robust knowledge and experience on problem solving methodologies. Kaizen,
Six Sigma (certification or equivalent experience is highly desirable).
Experience on 8D methodology
Ability to travel 40% domestic and international supplier locations to
conduct, control plan reviews, quality audits, risk mitigation and product
/ process demonstration runs
Ability to perform work and deliver results in the fast pace automotive
environment.
