What to Expect
Tesla's Cell Materials Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated
individual to be the Site Supply Chain Manager for a novel battery chemical
plant near Corpus Christi, TX. You, as the Site Supply Chain Manager, will
have the responsibility to design and lead the processes and team requisite to
receiving materials and shipping products in alignment with the Production and
Operating plan for the facility. In this role, you will work cross-
functionally with Global Supply Managers, Raw Material Evaluation teams,
external rail and port resources, and various other supply and logistics
organizations to solve problems, drive continuous improvement, and achieve
facility production targets and functional excellence.
What You'll Do
Manage daily supply chain operations through Key Performance Indicators
(KPI), problem solving and driving continuous improvement to achieve the
KPI targets.
Build a strong, motivated supply chain and material handling team capable
of enabling consistent delivery of high-quality products against
aggressive production targets.
Create and maintain a culture that prioritizes safety, quality and cost
through communication, action, and accountability.
Collaborate cross functionally to design and integrate site activities
into a comprehensive Plan-to-Produce process
Implement 5S practices for the Cell Material warehouse and loading areas.
Work cross functionally to improve processes, support inventory control
issues, address production bottlenecks and improve consistency of product
quality.
Training and development of staff, supervisors, leads and associates.
Build relationships and effectively interface with external support
functions (rail authorities and service providers, port authorities,
etc.)
Support issue resolution through root cause analysis, implementing
effective solutions and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
Ensure production teams utilize standardized work and consistent work
practices across shifts and areas.
Conduct daily process audits to ensure compliance of the team to
established standards, policies and procedures for safety, quality,
delivery, and cost.
What You'll Bring
7+ years as a material handling/logistics, supply chain manager in a
materials manufacturing environment
Ability to foster and develop a strong team of supply chain leaders and
material handling personnel
Experience effectively interfacing with different modes of freight
transport entities.
Ability to maintain a safe work environment by establishing and enforcing
operational standards and procedures
Ability to trouble-shoot and improve/drive resolution of operational
issues
Understands lean manufacturing principles
Ability to meet operational and financial targets (labor efficiency,
trailer management, scrap reduction, overflow management, transaction
accuracy, downtime, etc.)
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple
priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment, occasionally requiring extended hours.
Demonstrated passion for establishing a culture and systems that deliver
strong, quality-focused site supply chain performance.
