What to Expect

The Role

Tesla is seeking a Software Engineer to lead development of Autopilot features to support and improve service operations. This position is a key connection point between our service operations and service engineering teams, and the Autopilot software development teams in Silicon Valley, California. You will be directly responsible for additions and improvements to Autopilot SW that improve Service's ability to accurately diagnose issues, such as alerts, and facilitate the collection of customer feedback for the Autopilot development team.

You will join the growing Driver Assistance Systems team in Service Engineering, part of the Vehicle Software organization, which is generally responsible for providing real-time diagnostic support to service, reducing diagnostic effort in service by creating diagnostic tools and procedures, and improving our products by feeding back top field issues to the HW and SW development teams.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with Autopilot development team to create high quality additions and modification to Autopilot code
  • Collaborate closely with Service Engineering team mates to understand top Autopilot-related issues impacting our customers and prioritize development work accordingly
  • Create an improved standard that defines the requirements for system alerts, and lead implementation of the standard throughout Autopilot development team
  • Create new and modify existing alerts, confirming to an established standard, to increase service's ability to accurately identify issues
  • Perform data analyses on large datasets to understand and summarize behavior in the fleet to better inform alert/feature development
  • Analyze code and identify opportunities to refactor that will allow the future creation of valuable service features
  • Create dashboards and service routines in Tesla's onboard diagnostic tools to simplify diagnostics and further automate service procedures
  • What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years experience in software development
  • Demonstrated experience working in C++, Python, and Go
  • Experience with UI development and design
  • Demonstrated experience in SQL and data analysis
  • Nice to Have:

  • Tableau experience
  • Experience with computer architecture, including processor memory, kernel, and OS
  • Experience with cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, autonomous vehicles, or other applications of machine learning
