About the Role – You will:
Train teammates in safety procedures and best practices.
Design methods for appraising safety conditions within the facility.
Inspect working conditions to ensure all activities are compliant with
safety guidelines.
Support EHS activities and record keeping requirements.
Identify and mitigate ergonomic hazards.
Prepare reports detailing inspection results.
Suggest revisions to work instructions and activities that do not meet
health and safety codes.
Evaluate and recommends safety equipment and PPE.
Stay up to date on Federal, State and local safety regulations/ laws.
Conduct periodic emergency drills to gauge employee readiness.
Address any workplace-related health issues and accidents.
Consult with leadership regarding the implementation of new safety
procedures.
Assist HR with the preparation of workers compensation documentation.
Suggests revisions to company safety policies and plans.
Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Safety team that supports Proterra's
Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
You will report to the Site Facilities and Safety Sr. Manager and
collaborate with other Safety team members located at our headquarters in
Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities and Greenville, SC.

Your Experience Includes:
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Safety Coordinator in a manufacturing
environment or equivalent relevant experience
OSHA 30 hour – General Industry certificate
ISO 14001 and 45001 experience is preferred
Demonstrate a broad knowledge of OSHA and local safety regulations/laws.
Extensive knowledge of appropriate emergency protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of legal repercussions of workplace injuries/accidents and
strong leadership skills.
Adept at conflict resolution and finding consensus in challenging
situations.
Physical Demands:
May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Hands-on position on the production floor as well as time spent in an office environment preparing documents and/or performing training.
Environmental Demands:
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
You might also have:
Associate' or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety
Management or related field.
OSHA 501 – Trainer certificate for General Industry
Travel: Travel to other facilities may be required
