Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive support to Proterra's Greer Site
Quality team and other sites in APQP and PPAP activities. You will be
responsible for ensuring product and process integrity through the development
and production. You will be involved in implementation of processes
documentation that support manufacturing, internal and external activities
related to development, changes, qualification, optimization as well as
product and process certification in line with company protocols and
objectives.
About the Role – You will:
This position will provide comprehensive new product delivery support to
Proterra's Director of Powered Quality and other site leadership team
members
You will be responsible for assisting the product development team while
working cross-functionally in all aspects to ensure customer and market
quality is met
This position will manage data, prioritization, reporting, processes,
safety, and other items necessary for the team to deliver and support all
new customer products manufactured by Proterra including chargers,
batteries and non-battery powered systems
Responsible for supporting and maintaining launch related activities with
our all customers
Must work with customer needs and passionate about exceeding their
expectations
Responsible for PPAP documentation creation, management, and updates
during development
Act as the key quality contact for customers during development
Responsible for issue identification and resolution of quality improvement
in the market and/or customer locations, including development issues,
recall campaigns and other proactive actions
Work cross-functionally to successfully support product development
through launch to the market
Ensure proactive actions are agreed and appropriate
Facilitate the transition from development to production for the quality
organization
Lead the quality deliverables (APQP) through the project (program)
stage gate process
Work with regulatory and engineering on the customer market compliance and
requirements
Participate in the mentoring and development of junior Advanced Quality
Engineers
Cooperation with the product engineering and advanced manufacturing
organizations to collect and analyze problems in development
Participations in risk and opportunity management
Ensure Lessons Learned cascade from previous product launches
Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews and FMEA
workshops to ensure product performance, reliability, and
manufacturability risks are identified and mitigated
Other duties as assigned by management

other Quality team members located at our manufacturing facility in
Greenville, SC and throughout North America
Capture past problem history (Warranty, Field, Manufacturing) into new
and existing FMEA's
Collaboration with cross functional program teams to detect and document
potential failures
Creation and moderation of FMEA-Control plan using AIAG CTS Software
Collaboration with cross functional program teams to detect and document
potential failures to ensure all documentation is up to date
Collaboration with cross functional program teams to detect and document

Creation and moderation of FMEA's using AIAG CTS Software
Use of quality management methods and tools during development and
production
Plan and direct activities pertinent to the development, application, and
maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes
Create and maintain quality documentation, such as Process Flow, PFMEA,
Control plans. procedures, WI etc.
Lead Development Issues resolution with Root Cause analysis and problem-
solving skills; review production issues and articulate proper problem
ownership of Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier and assign Non-
Conforming Reports (NCR's) accordingly while being a catalyst for timely
closure of NCRs and subsequent documentation updates and cascade lessons
learned.
Support and promote timely approval of PCRs (Prototype phase);
Support FMEA- Control plan audits within manufacturing environment
Use of quality management methods and tools during development and
production
Other duties as assigned by leadership and management.

This position will be part of the Greer, SC based Quality team that
supports Proterra's Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
You will report to the Enterprise Quality Manager and collaborate with
cross functional team members located at headquarters in Burlingame, CA
and manufacturing facility in Greer, SC.

Education and Experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing,
Industrial or equivalent)
8+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably launching
products and working level APQP, PPAP and Change management areas
5+ years proven APQP experience within Automotive/ Manufacturing
Strong problem-solving skills supported by structured Root Cause analysis,
countermeasure and prevent recurrence, may include the following: PPS,
Shainin, etc.
Experience with AIAG CTS or similar APQP Tools
Basic knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Knowledge and understanding of the following: ISO 9001, IATF 16949 quality
systems, VDA 6.3, VDA 6.5 or equivalent
Auditor Experience a plus
Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement tools
Proficient computer skills that may include the following applications:
Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, Arena, Kronos, Outlook, Zoom or similar
applications
Working knowledge of following measurement tools including but not limited
to gages, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators
Physical Demands:
May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to Proterra or supplier locations.
Lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Environmental Demands:
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
