What to Expect

Responsible for managing the SCADA HMI integration of manufacturing utility systems into new and existing facilities to meet the requirements of the Cell manufacturing processes, including design development, operation, and maintenance. Strong background in electrical, mechanical and chemical systems operation is required. Proven ability to develop scalable server architectures for plant wide SCADA systems with a focus on operator needs and utility usage reporting to assure the responsiveness, reliability, serviceability, and efficiency of those systems meets the highest standards.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain strong integration & communication with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure lessons learned are integrated into current and future facilities
  • Lead project teams in the development of user interface / user experience (UI/UX) components and architecture
  • Work closely with PLC development to optimize data exchange and general system usability
  • Manage Database, Server, Folder architecture
  • Support development of high efficiency alarm rationalization techniques
  • Audits facilities systems performance as well as systems operational issues/impacts in order to provide process or system changes that can provide meaningful value
  • Manages and audits design services performed by consultants including preparing RFP scope and independent cost estimate, critically reviewing consultant proposals, negotiating cost, ensuring schedule/budget compliance, auditing scope conformance and quality, and reviewing consultant performance
  • Reviews of Instrumentation & Controls shop drawings and submittals

  • Understanding and familiarity with control and operation of many of the following systems:
  • Electrical Metering, Thermal Oxidizers, Air Scrubbers, Dust Collectors, Heat Exchangers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Pumps, Air Handling Units, Terminal Units, Fans / Blowers, Pumps, DOAS Units, Control Valves and Instrumentation, Hazardous Exhaust, Dehumidification Units, Heat Recovery Systems, Air Compressors/Dryers, Energy Savings Equipment, Electrical equipment, MV & LV Electrical distribution, Hazardous chemical & waste storage/containment/conveyance
  • Advanced proficiency in programming industrial process and manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards
  • Familiarity/experience with AC and DC systems in industrial manufacturing processes
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and making recommendations that are supported by the analysis and are consistent with code and good engineering practice

  • BS/MS in an Engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience

  • 5-8 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Applications Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems
  • Advanced proficiency in modern text based programming languages (Python, Java, C, VB)
  • Advanced proficiency in database systems (MSSQL, MySQL, Access)
  • Experience with:
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI / GUI - Ignition, Siemens Comfort Panel, AB Panelview, FactoryTalk, LabView)
  • PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE, Koyo)
  • Field bus Networks (ProfiNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Safety rated field bus networks)
  • Serial communication (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, ProfiBus, BacNet) between PLCs and instruments and microcontrollers.
  • Selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and instrumentation.
  • Programming and tuning variable frequency drives.
  • Proficiency creating detailed process, electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics in CAD (AutoCAD). Ability to use 3D CAD packages such as with Revit is a plus.
  • Professional Design Experience in a wide range of project types: industrial cooling tower systems, chiller plants, boiler plants, mission critical/data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, high tech/R&D, bio- tech/pharmaceutical, or battery manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience with writing sequence of operations.
