What to Expect
As a Senior Manager of Production Control, you will have the responsibility to
design and oversee material handing functions in the Fremont factory. You will
lead a team of Managers and Associate Managers and take a KPI driven approach
toward meeting daily operational objectives. In this role, you will work
cross-functionally with inventory control, PC process engineering, Equipment
Engineering, Maintenance, and various other supply and logistics organizations
to solve problems, drive continuous improvement, and to achieve Fremont
production targets. This role will report to Director of Production control.
What You'll Do
Manage daily operations through Key Performance Indicators (KPI),
problem solving and driving continuous improvement to achieve the KPI
targets
Coach and mentor the associate managers on standard work, problem solving
and continuous improvement and effectively manage their performance
Build a strong, motivated production team capable of consistently
delivering high quality products against aggressive production targets
Create and maintain a culture that prioritizes safety, quality and cost
through communication, action, and accountability
Work cross functionally to improve processes, support inventory control
issues, address production bottlenecks and increase productivity
Conceive, develop, and implement engineered solutions to material flow
issues. Working directly with or over process engineering, equipment
engineering, and maintenance teams is expected
Training and development of associate managers, supervisors, leads and
associates
Support issue resolution through root cause analysis, implementing
permanent counter measures and an environment of continuous learning
Ensure production teams utilize standardized work and consistent work
practices across shifts and areas
Oversee electrical & automation equipment, including pneumatic and
hydraulic powered equipment
Conduct daily process audits to ensure compliance of the team to
established standards, policies and procedures for safety, quality,
delivery and cost
Ensure regulatory training compliance of all associates, as well as
develop better training procedures & techniques to fill gaps in employee &
department skillsets
What You'll Bring
Minimum 12 years as a material handling/logistics, supply chain manager in
a manufacturing environment
Ability to foster and develop a strong team of material handling personnel
& leaders
Ability to maintain a safe work environment by establishing and enforcing
operational standards and procedures
Thorough knowledge of the Tesla Manufacturing process and all related
activities
Technical competence to oversee engineering & maintenance teams
Ability to trouble-shoot and improve/drive resolution of operational
issues
Understands lean manufacturing principles
Ability to meet operational and financial targets (labor efficiency,
trailer management, scrap reduction, overflow management, transaction
accuracy, downtime, etc.)
Supports objectives and targets of other PC groups (Warehouse mgmt., yard
mgmt., Inv. Control, material flow engineering, etc.)
