Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive software engineering support to
Proterra's HV Controls and Integrations Manager and other site leadership team
members. The position will be part of the team that manages the hardware and
embedded software for Proterra battery, charging, and telemetry systems. This
role will focus on embedded software development across each of these
platforms.
About the Role – You will:
Develop C and assembly in bare metal environment.
Develop next generation telemetry products including features like edge
computer and over the air updates.
Develop embedded software for vehicle telemetry system in Linux
environment.
Support smart charging development related to various EV charging methods
including CCS J1772.
Support integration of Proterra battery and charging systems into emerging
applications.
Develop and execute system specifications, interface definitions, DFMEAs,
and validation plans.
Work in cross functional teams throughout the design process to ensure
optimal solutions for design, integration and control systems.
Implement industry best practices for software design, validation and
safety analysis.
Track work using feature and bug tracking software.
Utilize source control to track revisions of software.
Support field incident resolution for issues related to vehicle and
charging station.
Maintain State-of-the-Art knowledge of related topics.
Mentor other engineers to improve team strength.
Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Engineering team that supports
Proterra's Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
You will report to the HV Controls and Integrations Manager and
collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our
headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facilities in
Greenville, SC and Los Angeles, CA.

Your Experience Includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or
Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience
3+ years of engineering experience
Experience with C, C++, Python and Java programming languages
Experience with embedded Linux environment
Experience with cellular and Wi-Fi communication protocols and related
hardware
Background in low voltage DC electrical systems
You might also have:
Advance Degree in related field
Experience with python is a plus
Experience with vehicle CAN communication
Experience with EVs or HEVs and Yocto is a plus.
Travel: Approximately 10%
