Position Overview
As a Senior Staff Battery Cell Engineer on the Cell Engineering team, you will lead technical projects to understand the limits of Proterra's cell technology to ensure that lifetime and performance requirements are met. This position will guide and contribute to all technical facets of the Cell Engineering team.
About the Role – You will:
· Drive decisions for cell selection and usage limits based on test and project results.
· Devise cell requirements based on system and vehicle level requirements.
· Lead projects within the different competencies of the Cell Engineering team (Test, Data, Modeling, Algorithms).
· Mentor technical members of the Cell Engineering team.
· Collaborate with cell suppliers to evaluate cell technology that meet Proterra's requirements.
· Stay up to date with the latest literature in cell technology and share findings/learnings with the team.

· You will report to the Manager of Cell Engineering and collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame.

Your Experience Includes:
· 12+ years of relevant experience in lithium ion battery technology.
· BS/MS in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
· Demonstrated success in spearheading cell engineering projects and resolving critical technical problems.
· Deep understanding of electrochemistry and lithium-ion cell behavior.
· Strong understanding of cell design.
· Experience with Matlab/Simulink.
· Experience in writing code to analyze large data sets.
· Experience with dynamic modeling, Kalman filtering, and state estimator design.
· Experience with cell modeling (equivalent circuit and/or electrochemical).
· Strong communication and project/task management skills.
Compensation Range: $173,700k/yr - $193,000k/yr + Benefits
Travel: 0 - 15%
