About the Role – You will:

  • Hire, supervise, and train manufacturing engineering technicians.
  • Assist associates in their personal and professional development.
  • Ensure competencies of associates in their current role according to level expectations
  • Train associates on quality, industry, and production standards.
  • Ensure Performance Appraisals are complete to schedule.
  • Understand associates' career goals and help them to create and execute a personal development plan in order to achieve them.
  • Act as liaison between first shift manufacturing engineering technicians and the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and HR representatives as needed for associate development.
  • Perform supervisory tasks and responsibilities for manufacturing engineering technician associates on your shift.
  • Support shifts start up tier meetings to ensure everyone is present, on time, and manufacturing support is available for all areas.
  • Attend production meetings and ensure issues are communicated.
  • Interface with engineering and quality to resolve quality concerns.
  • Participate in Process FMEA walks as technical resources for Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Maintain associate labor tracking (i.e., payroll, time approval, tracking); initiates and administers 1st level of associate basis disciplinary / corrective action.
  • Recommend and implement initiatives (i.e., new techniques/products, purchase of new machinery, changes in staff levels); conducts or arranges training in job-related skills for associates.
  • Provide detailed pass down to other Manufacturing Engineering Supervisors and Manufacturing Engineering management to communicate shift concerns.
  • Promote 5s requirements.
  • Work with cross functional team to maximize operational efficiency of the equipment.
  • Monitor and manage the team's performance.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities. Provide feedback for concepts to manufacturing engineers.
  • Lead all equipment troubleshooting efforts as escalated.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • This position will be part of the Manufacturing team that supports Proterra's Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • You will report to the Battery Maintenance Manager and collaborate with other Manufacturing team members located at the facility.

  • Your Experience Includes:

  • Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience. Bachelors preferred.
  • Experience as manufacturing supervisor or similar supervisory role. Able to develop others through goals, planning and coaching.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to support your direct team members.
  • Knowledge in various manufacturing processes (mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, automation, and support functions).
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices, policies, and regulations
  • Understanding of budget and performance management.
  • Computer Skills: proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Root cause analysis tool understanding, 8D, Six Sigma, 5 why's etc.
  • Strong planning and leadership abilities
  • Physical Demands:
  • May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
  • Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
  • Environmental Demands:
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
  • Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
  • Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
  • Location: Greer, SC
