About the Role – You Will:

  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Manage all shipping and receiving operations, including unloading and sorting of deliveries.
  • Ensure that all incoming shipments are accurately and promptly processed.
  • Communicate with 3rd party providers to efficiently coordinate all activities for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Supervise and train shipping and receiving staff.
  • Monitor the accuracy of all receiving records, including inventory and stock levels.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling them with the data storage system.
  • Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair, and requisitions for replacement.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Maintain warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as well as planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies is encouraged.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • This position will be part of the Warehouse and Materials team that supports Proterra's Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
  • You will report to the Materials Manager and collaborate with other Warehouse and Materials team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA, and manufacturing facilities in Greer, SC.

  • Your Experience Includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in Supply Chain/ Materials Management
  • Demonstrated strong experience in supervision and/or managing people.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and inter-relationship with other areas which includes an in-depth knowledge of the purchasing function, including negotiations and contracting.
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective communicator with the ability to effectively work with a team to achieve success.
  • Physical Demands:
  • o May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.

    o Lifting to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

    o Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry, and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.

    o Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions, and close or distant visual items.

    o Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.

  • Environmental Demands:
  • o Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.

    o Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.

    o Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
