What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Project Engineer for the Cathode maintenance team located in Austin, TX. This role will include project management for: installations, process improvements and daily maintenance.. As a Project Engineer, you are responsible for managing projects from “cradle to grave”. This includes driving the design, schedule, budget tracking and implementation of projects. Being able to work with key stakeholders for projects and vendors are critical to this role.

What You'll Do

  • Project Start-up support and task tracking including contracts, proposal letters, work authorizations, creation and/or maintenance of project directories and ensure all applicable permits are in place
  • Support maintenance and construction activities to ensure efficient process workflow
  • Monitor and report field progress including manpower and quantities installed against the resources loaded estimate and track/build schedule
  • Successfully deliver large, design build, and self-performed construction projects
  • Ensure on time, or ahead of time delivery of projects, enabling your teams to solve problems and prioritize execution
  • Promote a safe and quality driven culture, both project and company wide
  • Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate roadblocks or communicate successes as necessary, including the ability to clearly communicate risks
  • Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the project's goals
  • Track and understand all project costs at a fundamental level, challenging design revision, RFIs and change orders to ensure Tesla receives the best value
  • Write detailed and thorough bid packages, clear communication expectations to bidders, and validating contractors are qualified to execute the scope
  • Navigate and build work processes to support both project work and daily maintenance.
  • Act as project focal point for equipment records, upkeep of P&ID and other critical plant records.
  • Work with the engineering disciplines to resource approved change
  • Develop costing for management and executive approval for design changes and new projects
  • Develop detailed project schedules w/ executive milestone visuals

  • What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or related fields
  • 2+ years Construction or maintenance experience preferred
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Primavera P6 scheduling experience preferred
